In residential solar feeder model, the discom owns and maintains the solar system connected to residential solar feeders (feeders with higher proportion of residential load), and the electricity hence generated by the system is fed into the grid.
Benefits to discoms
  1. By reducing the cost of supplying electricity to the residential consumers, the discom benefits from reduced cross subsidy.
  2. Through strategic identification of roof locations, discoms can optimise the benefits from rooftop solar to the distribution network.
Benefits to developers
  1. Since electricity is sold directly to the discom, developers face lower payment default risk.
